This 3D model of an office building is modelled after the Monadnock Building in Chicago . I used the floor plan from a textbook to re-create an upper floor.
Monadnock Building was originally designed as 4 separate buildings with their own entrances and elevator banks, of which I only show the original 2 buildings. Monadnock Building is significant in that it is built with load-bearing walls, which are thick walls visible in the model. Monadnock Building is the highest wall-bearing structure in Chicago . Modern construction, in contrast, uses a steel frame structure. Another notable feature of this building are the bay windows, which are uncommon of the Chicago style but often seen in San Francisco construction.
